Northern Marianas College (NMC)’s Regent Nominating Committee is seeking two (2) prospective individuals to serve as members of its Board of Regents. This prestigious position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the College. We invite applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about higher education and committed to advancing the College’s mission of cultivating stewardship through scholarship.
Pursuant to 3 CMC Subsection 1311, the current vacancies require that candidates be residents of Saipan. The vacancy will represent the following:
- Seat One: Women
- Seat Two: Private Sector
Interested applicants should also demonstrate a commitment to the mission of Northern Marianas College and knowledge of higher education. Accreditation guidelines also requires that board members of the governing board must understand, accept, and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities to act honestly and in good faith, and in the best interests of the institution toward achievement of its mission, as well as, possess general financial skills and knowledge in order to oversee planning, budgets, and audits. To this end, the College is seeking board members who have:
- Positive ambassadorship and advocacy of the institution.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the institution's administration in matters related to academic programs, finances, and institutional policies.
- Eagerness to actively attend and participate at every meeting of the Board of Regents.
- Participate in discussions and decision-making processes.
- Supportive, but willing to express their own opinion.
- Review and approve institutional budgets, major initiatives, and capital projects.
- Advocate for the College within the community and with elected officials, promoting its mission and goals.
- Serve on board committees, contributing expertise and insight to various areas of governance.
- The willingness to devote time and expertise to board work.
- Willingness to support annual fundraising campaigns to the best of his/her ability;
- Strive to learn as much as possible.
- Demonstrated commitment to the College’s mission of cultivating stewardship through scholarship.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of higher education trends, challenges, and best practices.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in the best interest of the College.
- Willingness to dedicate time and effort to fulfill the responsibilities as a member of the Board of Regents, including attending meetings, participating in board activities, and representing the College on campus and in community events.
Qualifications:
Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree level of education, pursuant to Public Law 17-33.
