The latest news from Northern Marianas College

With a commitment to boosting local food production and ensuring economic development in the CNMI, the Northern Marianas College (NMC) Cooperative Research, Extension, and Education Services (CREES) Agriculture Production program welcomes the addition of two highly qualified agricultural economists to its team: Matthew Deleon Guerrero and Dr. Patrick Hoyle.

Three professionals from the CNMI Small Business Development Center at Northern Marianas College were recently highlighted in Guam Business Journal (GBJ)’s 40 Under Forty, a competitive list of young leaders selected amongst a diverse group from across the region. CNMI SBDC’s Charlene M. Ogo, Mercilynn K. Palec, and Roman M. Tudela were included in their fourth edition and were recognized and acknowledged at GBJ’s 40 Under Forty Gala.

Earlier this summer, NMC Project PROA sent 27 Proa Pathway scholars to attend the 3rd Annual Summer Research Academy (SRA). The SRA was held at the Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom at Portland State University (PSU) in Portland, Oregon from June 17-21, 2024. The Center for Internship, Mentoring, and Research (CIMR) and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) sponsored the event. This marks the second year that Project PROA and CIMR teams met in person since the Northern Marianas College (NMC) was awarded the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving (AANAPISI) cooperative grant, or Proa Pathway Partnership, back in October 2022.
