The latest news from Northern Marianas College

Maxine Alexandra Rabago, a nursing student at Northern Marianas College, received a $1,000 scholarship and was named one of the recipients of the Pacific Region Scholarship by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society.

“I am honored to be selected for PTK’s Pacific Region Scholarship, which brings me one step closer to achieving my educational goals,” said Rabago.

She added, “This accomplishment would not have been possible without the support of Ms. Les Ogumoro-Uludong, the PTK officers, and our society’s advisor, Ms. Kaelani Demapan. My time in PTK has been a defining part of my college experience, encouraging me to pursue fellowship and academic excellence, and I am grateful to receive the society’s recognition!”

Maxine is also the Publicity Chair of the Nursing Club of Northern Marianas College.

The Pacific Region Transfer Scholarship recognizes Phi Theta Kappa members from Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands who attend a two-year college in one of those states or territories.

The scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievement and rigor, engagement in college and community activities, and leadership. Two students are selected to receive this scholarship each year.

This award is given to two top-scoring Phi Theta Kappa members in the Pacific Region based on their entry in the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship competition, which helps defray educational expenses at the bachelor’s degree-granting college and encourages participation in Society programs.

“On behalf of the PTK advisors, I want to congratulate Maxine on her achievements as our first-ever Pacific Region Transfer Scholar! This award is a testament to her dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the healthcare field. We are incredibly proud of her as she completes her ASN this spring and pursues her BSN in the fall,” said PTK Advisor Kaelani Demapan.
