The CNMI Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network at the Northern Marianas College is thrilled to announce the resounding success of its Boots to Business training event held on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at the Pacific Islands Club, Saipan. The event saw a full house, with enthusiastic participation from Veterans, military service members, and their families.
Dennis Kwak, Director of the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) of the Pacific, brought a wealth of knowledge to our clients, providing comprehensive insights into business ownership and fostering engaging interactions with participants. His expertise and dynamic presentation were instrumental in equipping attendees with the tools and confidence needed to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.
In addition to Dennis Kwak, the event featured valuable contributions from guest speakers Kenneth Lujan and David Burger. While Kwak provided a broad scope of support, Lujan and Burger offered more regionally and locally relevant advice. Guam Branch Manager of the U. S. Small Business Administration’s, Lujan addressed specific business opportunities and challenges within the CNMI, and Managing Partner of local accounting firm Burger & Comer, LLC, Burger delved into critical legal aspects of business ownership, including the various legal forms of small business entities and the importance of selecting a robust BAIL (Banking, Accounting, Insurance & Legal) team.
The full-day event not only offered essential training but also provided Veterans, military service members, and their families a unique opportunity to network and build a supportive community geared towards future business endeavors. The connections made during the event will undoubtedly foster a collaborative environment, encouraging shared success and mutual growth.
Nadine C. Deleon Guerrero, Network Director of the CNMI SBDC, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are incredibly proud of the turnout and the positive feedback from our participants. The success of this event underscores the importance of supporting our Veteran entrepreneurs. We remain committed to guiding them towards new opportunities and helping them thrive post-service to our country. We are thankful to our partners of the SBA, the Veterans Business Outreach Center of the Pacific and Dave Burger for making this opportunity available for our hardworking Veteran community.”
