Interested in learning more about our planet and participating in hands-on lab experiments? Be sure to register for NS 140 Earth and Environmental Science! And, if you want to learn more about plant ecology, which include field trips, register for BI 141 Plant Science.
Descriptions and more details about the classes are included below:
NS 140 - Earth and Environmental Science
This course is designed to be an introductory tour of the Earth, its physical environment, and its place in the universe.
This course will cover the foundations of:
- Geology
- Geophysics
- Oceanography
- Planetary Science
- Meteorology
This course will investigate the origins, physical properties, and dynamics of the Earth as an integrated system. Students will participate in discussion and conduct hands-on investigations in the laboratory. This course fulfills a physical science requirement and satisfies the science elective option for non-majors.
BI 141 Plant Science
This course introduces students to the study of plant life to illustrate the fundamental principles of plant ecology.
Topics will cover:
- Cellular Organization
- Photosynthesis
- Respiration
- Growth and Development
- Reproduction
- Mineral Nutrition and Water Absorption
- Marianas Plant Diversity and Ecology
- Human Uses of Plants
Laboratory and field trips are required. This course fulfills a biological science requirement, an elective requirement for any A.S degree with a science major and satisfies the science elective option for non-majors.
