NORTHERN Marianas College Interim President Frankie Eliptico and other college officials on Thursday presented to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios a new federally funded classroom, bookstore and media center.
The capital improvement project funds were provided by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.
Through the work of the local CIP office and its technical analyst, Nerissa Benavente, NMC was awarded over $600,000 for Phase 1 of the Building V renovation project, Eliptico said.
Now NMC students have a spacious classroom equipped with the latest instruction technology and is compliant with Covid-19 safety measures.
State-of-the art technology has also been installed at the media center.
“We are really happy that we are opening new spaces on campus thanks to CIP funds from OIA through the governor’s office,” Eliptico said.
He said the CIP funds also help NMC with a lot of structural improvements, including the construction of a second floor in Building V.
“We are really thankful to the governor’s CIP office, its team and the Department of the Interior’s OIA because without that funding we will not be able to do this construction,” Eliptico said.
