Ella Mae Dela Cruz, a Northern Marianas College nursing graduate, has joined the list of students who have passed the challenging National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.
“We are proud of Ella’s accomplishment,” said NMC Interim President Frankie Eliptico. The NCLEX-RN tests an individual's nursing knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry level. The exam is used by nursing boards in all U.S. states and territories to award nursing licenses.
“We commend Ella for this accomplishment and expect to see great things from her as her educational and professional journey continues,” said NMC Nursing Department Chair Rosa T. Aldan. "Passing the NCLEX-RN and then being licensed as a Registered Nurse are great achievements."
According to Dela Cruz, she decided to pursue a nursing career because she always had a strong desire to help others and provide comfort and care.
“Nursing offers a great opportunity to have an impact on the lives of others,” Dela Cruz said. “That certain feeling of making a difference in people’s lives is what motivates me.”
Dela Cruz also added that NMC and its nursing program helped her prepare for the exam.
“NMC has helped me prepare for the exam by laying a foundation of knowledge and skills related to the practice of nursing,” Dela Cruz said. “I was able to learn and get hands-on practice on clinical nursing skills throughout nursing school.”
Dela Cruz’s advice to students planning to take the NCLEX is that perseverance is key.
