Jaiden Sabugo, a 2024 Northern Marianas College nursing graduate, recently joined numerous other NMC students who have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.
Nursing graduates must pass the NCLEX-RN to be able to practice nursing in the United States and its territories. The exam tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing graduates in order to certify that they are capable of applying entry-level nursing practices correctly.
“We extend our warmest congratulations to Jaiden for successfully passing the NCLEX-RN,” NMC President Galvin Deleon Guerrero, EdD said. “This accomplishment is a testament to their commitment to excellence and the high standards upheld by NMC's nursing program.
NMC Nursing Department Chair Rosa Aldan likewise congratulated Sabugo on her achievement.
“The Nursing Team and I are very proud of Jaiden for passing the NCLEX and are confident that she will excel in their career as a registered nurse alongside her peers,” Aldan said.
According to Sabugo, she had always wanted to be a nurse since she was a child.
“From a very early age, I admired how my aunt, a nurse, could make such a meaningful difference in the lives of others,” Sabugo said. “She was my biggest inspiration and I looked up to her in so many ways. I also always liked the idea of being able to help others and make an impact on their lives which I believe was my motivation to pursue a nursing degree. Knowing that I could lighten or ease someone’s day brings me much joy.”
Sabugo attributes her success with the exam to the College’s nursing faculty, as well as her family and friends.
“A good support system was one of the significant factors that contributed to my passage of the NCLEX-RN exam,” Sabugo said. “I had so many people who were there for me when I was tired or frustrated when studying. Their comfort and encouragement helped me calm down and refocus. Knowing that I had a strong support system was just a reminder that I am capable of pushing through. That encouragement not only helped me through rough patches but strengthened my will to succeed.”
Sabugo advises students who are preparing for the exam to not let anxiety and nervousness get the best of them.
“It may be easier said than done, but your anxiety will only make things worse. Take your time and don’t rush. Remember, you’ve prepared for this moment. Feeling nervous is normal, but do not let that cloud your judgment. The NCLEX is the final obstacle to becoming the amazing nurse you’ve always dreamed of being,” Sabugo said.
