The latest news from Northern Marianas College

Northern Marianas College business students are taking their learning to the next level with Capsim 2.0, a live simulation platform that pairs students from across the nation to compete to run a business.

The NMC School of Business has been using the Capsim Simulation since 2015, but this cohort is the first to try out Capsim 2.0, a sustainability model framed around a forward-thinking approach to business education. It not only equips students with the necessary skills for the business world, but also instills a sense of responsibility towards sustainability, preparing them to be well-rounded and conscientious business leaders.

Integrating sustainability into the simulation enhances the growing global awareness of environmental and social responsibility. This prepares students to navigate the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable business practices.

This approach also emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices in the corporate world. Through this, students gained practical experience through a real-world simulation, developed collaboration and leadership skills, learned sustainable practices, and are prepared for future careers with in-demand competencies and progressive learning methods.

“We live in a dynamic environment and these students have gone through their academic journey where they know the importance of teamwork and cross-functional decision-making,” said Dr. Barbara Hunter.

She added, “I am excited to see more students take part in this new type of live immersion competition with other colleges nationwide. The School of Business values the synergy that turns into fellowship and the students being able to share their business acumen through knowledge and application, which is important for the workforce.”
