The latest news from Northern Marianas College

Partners and volunteers of The Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers-Public Private Partnership program started the year by completing three community improvement projects. Northern Marianas Sports Association, Shirley’s Football Club/Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Northern Marianas College completed adopt-a-median projects in high-traffic intersections on Saipan. The organizations gave streets, medians, curbs, and barriers much-needed facelifts and helped  improve the safety and visibility of the medians and curbs for motorists and pedestrians.

On Dec. 29, 2021, the Northern Marianas Sports Association transformed the Oleai Sports Complex parking lot and curbs in preparation for the Pacific Mini Games this June.

On Jan. 11, 2022  Shirley’s Football Club/Shirley’s Coffee Shop wrapped up  the adopt-a-median project in Garapan by painting the borders around the intersection near JG Sablan Ice & Water.

On Jan. 14, 2022, Northern Marianas College repainted the Chalan Monsignor Guerrero medians in the Shell Dandan and Joeten Dandan area.

Last month, seven groups and families completed major facelifts at other intersections on Saipan. Four additional schools have committed to adopting medians on Tinian and Saipan during the first quarter of 2022. GCEA welcomes groups to sign up to adopt medians in their villages. GCEA says Si Yu’us Ma’åse’ and Ghilisow to Northern Marianas Sports Association, Shirley’s Football Club/Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and Northern Marianas College for making Saipan safer and more beautiful for all residents. GCEA also thanks the Department of Public Safety’s Highway Safety Patrol for ensuring the safety of the council’s partners and volunteers.
